A tragic incident resulted in the death of a two-year-old girl, leading to the arrest of a man and a woman by the police. Authorities were initially called to the scene to perform a welfare check at the residence.
The young girl was transported to a hospital but was declared deceased upon arrival. The police, who were summoned to a residence near Middlesbrough for the check, are now investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities were alerted about the situation at approximately 4:20 PM on Saturday, and a welfare check was promptly conducted at the home located on Hartington Close, in the Thornaby area.

A 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been taken into custody in connection with the child’s demise and are under police interrogation. According to witnesses, detectives remained at the property throughout the night following the incident.
The following day, forensic teams and crime scene investigation units were observed at the residence as they continued their inquiry into the heartbreaking event, reported TeesideLive.
Investigators were seen taking photographs and conducting thorough examinations both inside and around the home. At this stage, the Cleveland Police are treating the toddler’s death as unexplained, as noted in a report by The Mirror.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police stated: “Officers responded to a call at Hartington Close in Thornaby at around 4.20pm on Saturday 13th September after concerns were raised for the welfare of a two-year-old child.
“The child was subsequently taken to hospital where she unfortunately passed away. Her death is currently considered unexplained, and detectives have initiated an investigation.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the child during this incredibly difficult time. The 25-year-old woman and 21-year-old man who were arrested are still being questioned as our inquiries continue.”
