New Allegations Surface in Kim Delaney’s 2022 Hit-and-Run Incident
New information has come to light regarding the 2022 hit-and-run incident involving former NYPD Blue actress Kim Delaney. According to recent court documents reported by Us Weekly, she is now being accused of having slurred speech and an unsteady gait following the accident, based on witness accounts.
The lawsuit stems from an event where Delaney, driving a black Mercedes, allegedly collided with Dzhamal Badalov, who was riding a motorcycle at the time. Despite Delaney’s denial of any misconduct, Badalov has initiated legal action seeking unspecified compensation.
The court has scheduled the trial for January 12, 2026. In the meantime, Delaney has been mandated to engage in community service and complete a DUI educational program.
Witness Ashlee Cartznes provided details of the incident in a deposition after Badalov introduced new documents to support his case. Cartznes recounted that while driving with her boyfriend, she observed Delaney’s Mercedes speeding towards them, hastily changing lanes to avoid a crash. She then saw Delaney abruptly stop at a red light in the middle of an intersection and proceed to drive erratically once the light turned green. Shortly thereafter, the collision with Badalov occurred, which resulted in him being ejected from his motorcycle.
Cartznes stopped to assist Badalov and noted Delaney’s apparent intoxication. She reported that Delaney had difficulty walking, focusing her eyes, maintaining her balance, and was slurring her words. Cartznes also noted that Delaney was not wearing shoes at the time.
Delaney is well-known for her role as Detective Diane Russell on the ABC drama series NYPD Blue, for which she won an Emmy Award.
Additionally, in May of this year, Delaney faced arrest on a felony assault charge after an alleged domestic dispute that escalated into physical violence. Her partner, James Morgan, was also arrested following the incident, which was described as a “heated argument that turned physical,” according to a report by PEOPLE.
