Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and Bradly Bartholomew, 47, face charges in the murder of Rebecca Park.
The mother and sister of a woman, who was almost at full term in her pregnancy when murdered, reportedly each had romantic relationships with her fiancé.
Cortney Bartholomew, age 40, and Bradly Bartholomew, age 47, are accused of orchestrating the death of Rebecca Park by luring her to their residence and then into a forest.
According to the prosecution, once in the forest, they attacked Rebecca, stabbing her, and then horrifically removed her unborn child from her womb, resulting in the deaths of both mother and child. Court filings now disclose that Cortney, Rebecca’s own mother, and Rebecca’s sister, 21-year-old Kimberly Park, were both involved romantically with Rebecca’s fiancé, Richard Falor, who is 43 years old and was also the father of the unborn child.
It was revealed that after Rebecca’s disappearance, Kimberly disclosed to a police officer that she had been involved with Falor since November 24. Rebecca’s body was discovered the following day. During the investigation, Cortney admitted to having an affair with Falor as well and mentioned plans to leave her husband for him, although she later decided against it.
Kimberly, during her arrest, alleged that Rebecca died following a seizure induced by a blow to the head from Cortney and Bradly. She claimed Bradly then contacted someone to dispose of her sister’s body in a swamp. She further alleged that Falor was responsible for Rebecca’s death and claimed he had tried to protect Kimberly by withholding information. However, investigators found no evidence supporting this claim.
Johanna Carey, the Wexford County Prosecutor, commented on the case as a premeditated act of torture and murder. She described the crime as a particularly savage act where a young woman and her unborn baby suffered unimaginable cruelty at the hands of the defendants. She expressed the deep disturbance caused by the brutality and disregard for life evident in the case, emphasizing that while these remain allegations until proven in court, the evidence points to a shocking level of coldness and violence. Carey looks forward to presenting the complete details in court.
Cortney and Bradly Bartholomew have been indicted on numerous charges including first-degree murder, felony murder, torture, and conspiracy to commit torture, as well as assault on a pregnant individual resulting in miscarriage/stillbirth, with each charge carrying a potential life sentence. They also face charges for unlawful imprisonment and improper transportation of a dead body. Meanwhile, Kimberly Park faces charges for tampering with evidence, providing false information to a police officer, and filing a false report.
