Second Suspect Faces Court in Glasgow Murder Attempt: Alleged Hit and Run Shocks Community

In Glasgow, a second individual has been brought before the court on charges related to an alleged attempted murder.

On the evening of Monday, June 23, police were called to Ashgill Road in the city’s northern sector in response to a disturbance report.

The reported incident, which involved three vehicles and a pedestrian, occurred in an area that connects the Milton and Springburn districts of Glasgow at approximately 6:55 PM last week.

A car struck the pedestrian, a 22-year-old man, who was subsequently transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for medical care.

The current state of the injured man’s health has not been disclosed.

Kyle McMenamin was presented in Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon.

The 26-year-old from Glasgow faces charges of assault endangering life and attempted murder.

He did not enter a plea, and following a preliminary hearing, he was granted bail.

McMenamin is slated to return to court within the next eight days.

The police have indicated that the incident appears to be targeted and that their investigation is ongoing.

While the police do not see any ongoing risk to the public, they plan to maintain their presence in the area. They have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland previously stated: “At approximately 6.55 PM on Monday, June 23, 2025, we were alerted to a disturbance involving three vehicles and a male pedestrian on Ashgill Road, Glasgow.

“The 22-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“Initial investigations suggest this was a targeted attack. We are conducting thorough enquiries to understand the full circumstances while continuing to ensure public safety in the area. Residents with any concerns or information are encouraged to speak with the officers on site.”
