Ocean’s Eleven Star Michael DeLano Passes Away at 84: Remembering a Film and TV Icon

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Michael DeLano, who passed away at the age of 84.

Michael DeLano suffered a heart attack and died on October 20 in a Las Vegas hospital. The news of his passing was only recently made public in an article by Hollywood Reporter. His wife of 28 years, Jean DeLano, confirmed the unfortunate news to the media outlet.

Michael DeLano was a versatile performer, known for his singing, dancing, and acting talents. He is widely recognized for his portrayal of Frank Walsh, the casino manager to Terry Benedict in Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve. Additionally, he gained fame as Johnny Venture, the lounge singer in the beloved 1970s CBS sitcom Rhoda. Up until recently, DeLano continued to entertain audiences with performances on the Las Vegas Strip.



DeLano also starred in the 1974 ABC firefighter drama series Firehouse, alongside James Drury and Richard Jaeckel, and appeared in the 1979 NBC series Supertrain. His career also included numerous supporting roles in popular television shows of the time, such as The A-Team, Charlie’s Angels, and Perfect Strangers.

His career began as a dancer on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand in 1940, after which he ventured into music in the 60s before becoming a well-known actor in the 70s.

Beyond television, DeLano made several appearances in films. His movie roles included the Western Catlow, the neo-noir The New Centurions, the 1985 Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie Commando, and the aforementioned Ocean’s series.

He leaves behind his wife, a daughter, and three grandchildren.
