Jordon Kemlo, a 28-year-old from Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, is potentially facing an extension to his 42-year prison term due to new charges while incarcerated in the United States.

Previously, Kemlo admitted to the sexual abuse of young boys during a trip to Tucson, Arizona, when he was a teenager.

Following a four-year sentence in Scotland for the sexual assault of a six-year-old boy, he was extradited to the US.

Kemlo, labeled a habitual criminal, has recently encountered several charges related to illegal sexual activities and drug possession in prison, potentially delaying his planned 2057 release.

An official from the Arizona Department of Corrections disclosed last night that Kemlo was convicted last month for engaging in illegal sexual activities and for resisting prison authorities.

He was also found guilty of drug possession in October of the previous year.

According to US law, such infractions can lead to changes in a prisoner’s release date based on their conduct.

Kemlo is held at the Barchey Unit of the Arizona State Prison-Complex Lewis in Buckeye, Arizona, a facility that houses around 5000 inmates.

While imprisoned, he has participated in various programs focused on health, wellness, and self-control.

A prison insider described Kemlo as completely reprehensible, noting his defiance and inappropriate behavior which could indefinitely extend his incarceration.

In 2015, Kemlo was imprisoned in Scotland for sexually assaulting a young boy. He was later extradited to Arizona in 2018 after the Scottish Government approved the extradition request.

The crimes occurred when Kemlo was 17 and visiting relatives in Tucson. He was reported to the police by a victim’s mother after her son disclosed being abused multiple times while playing Minecraft.

Kemlo also targeted three other boys in the neighborhood during his stay. All victims were under the age of 15.

He pleaded guilty to continuous sexual abuse of a child and other related charges, leading to a 42-and-a-half year sentence and lifetime probation by Judge Jeffrey Bergin at Pima County Superior Court.

His defense attorney, Katherine Daubert, had pleaded for leniency, highlighting Kemlo’s remorse and rehabilitation efforts while previously incarcerated in Scotland.

Alan Goodwin from the Pima County Attorney’s Office confirmed the sentencing, emphasizing the court’s decision to confine Kemlo to the Arizona Department of Corrections for nearly four and a half decades.

US law enforcement became aware of Kemlo’s actions after the victim’s mother reported him upon his departure from Tucson, noting her son’s troubled behavior and reluctance to discuss the abuse for fear of severe repercussions.

Kemlo was later extradited to the US in February 2018 under the escort of federal officers from the US Marshals Service following an extradition hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

A Scottish Government spokesperson confirmed the extradition was approved on January 31, after careful consideration.

Following his extradition, Kemlo was detained at Pima County jail in Tucson for over a year before his case was brought to court.

Initially faced with 10 charges related to child sex abuse, Kemlo confessed to the crimes during an interview with Arizona officers and was represented by a public defender due to financial constraints.

In 2015, the High Court in Glasgow was told how the abuse of a six-year-old victim started at both the perpetrator’s and the victim’s homes and continued for three years.

Kemlo, once arrested, told the police he hadn’t considered the consequences of his actions, admitting he was shocked and confused by his own behavior. He claimed he had thought about turning himself in but felt too ashamed to do so.

Judge Lord Burns subsequently ordered that Kemlo be placed under supervision for five years following his eventual release from custody.
