Marvel star expecting: Sinners lead confirms pregnancy on Golden Globes carpet

By Emily Anderson

A well-known actress made a headline announcement while walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes.

Wunmi Mosaku — familiar to audiences as Hunter B-15 in the Marvel films and praised for her award-winning turn as Annie in the 2025 horror hit Sinners — arrived at the 2026 Golden Globes clearly showing a baby bump, confirming that she is expecting her second child.

The 39-year-old actress explained in a written message to Vogue that the vivid yellow gown she wore was chosen to evoke the Yoruba saying “Iya ni Wúrà,” which translates to “mother is golden.” She said she picked the custom Matthew Reisman creation because she felt it was “the right dress and the right moment.”

Mosaku admitted in her statement that she had been reluctant to announce the news. She described the pregnancy as “beautiful, personal, sacred” and noted that sharing it publicly felt like something that goes against her instincts.

She added that her reluctance isn’t due to a lack of gratitude or happiness, but because the pregnancy feels like one of the few aspects of her life that truly belongs to her alone. Still, she acknowledged that she would be visible in the public eye over the coming weeks and that she would be doing so with a bump that’s continuing to grow.

Her presence at the Golden Globes is also in celebration of Sinners, which received seven nominations at this year’s awards.

As a mother already, Mosaku said she knows the types of questions pregnancy invites. She wrote that she’d been counseled to address potential speculation directly, noting that observant onlookers had already asked whether she was pregnant, whether she had gained weight, or what the rationale behind her outfit was.

Ultimately, she decided not to conceal her pregnancy at the ceremony. Mosaku said she wanted to appear simply as herself — a woman who is pregnant — and to honor the film and the team behind it while protecting what she called the most sacred prayer of her life. She chose to stop hiding her bump so she and her baby could fully enjoy the moment together.
