A cast member of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta has good reason to rejoice this festive season as her felony burglary charge has been dismissed.
Karlie Redd, a prominent member of the reality show since its debut on VH1 in 2012, faced arrest in April in DeKalb County, Georgia. She was charged with breaking into her former spouse’s residence and taking various items, including a watch and a credit card. She was soon released on bond.
In an interview with WSB-TV, Redd vehemently denied the accusations, stating, “It’s absolutely not true,” and explained that her visit was out of concern for her ex-husband’s well-being.
The arrest occurred shortly after she ended her marriage due to instances of domestic violence.
“Following his arrest for domestic abuse, they suddenly issued an arrest warrant for me. I was completely taken aback,” she recounted.
Legal documents later revealed that the prosecution was unable to establish that Redd had stolen any items from the home of her ex-husband, Teleau Belton.
Her lawyer, Steve Sadow, released a statement declaring that the “baseless case against my client Karlie Redd Lewis, a star of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, has been dropped.”
Relieved by the dismissal, Redd expressed her gratitude for being able to move past the legal troubles.
“I am overjoyed to be able to focus on using my experience to aid other women in their healing process,” she remarked.
