The British heavy metal band announced the sad news of their ex-drummer’s passing on their Instagram page this Monday.

“We are profoundly saddened by Les’s death and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers,” the post read.

Binks was a member of Judas Priest for two years, during which time his drumming was featured on their 1978 albums Stained Class and Killing Machine, as well as their 1979 live album Unleashed in the East.

Among the ten drummers that have been part of the band over the years, Binks and Dave Holland are the only ones who played on more than one of the group’s albums.

In 2022, Binks was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Judas Priest, marking one of his last public appearances before his passing.

He is survived by his three siblings.
