A fan of Hibernian Football Club is currently in a critical condition at an intensive care unit after falling ill during a trip to Denmark earlier this week.

Known affectionately as Uncle Dougie, Dougie Sneddon traveled to Copenhagen to watch his favorite team face off against Midtjylland on July 24.

Unfortunately, Dougie’s health deteriorated shortly after arriving, leading to his hospitalization where he is now on a ventilator, according to a report from Edinburgh Live.

In response to his situation, Hibernian supporters and friends from Edinburgh have rallied together to initiate a GoFundMe campaign to help manage the medical and accommodation expenses for his family.

The GoFundMe page, set up by Peter Manson, states: “Hi all, my name is Peter Manson. I have started this fundraiser to support the costs of medical care and accommodation for our well-loved friend, Uncle Dougie (Dougie Sneddon), who is currently in a Danish hospital’s ICU on a ventilator.”

“The family urgently needs our financial support as they navigate the challenging insurance situation. Unlike in the UK, all expenses need to be upfront. I will ensure all donations are promptly transferred to his family.”

“I am also accepting cash donations, and I will keep a record of all contributors and acknowledge them if they wish. Please help by sharing this.”

The call for support has touched many, with numerous individuals expressing their hopes for Dougie’s recovery on social media.

One supporter shared, “Get well soon Dougie. Sending love to you and your family during this tough time.”

Another added, “Sorry to hear about Dougie. I’ve enjoyed many great Masonic evenings with him. Get well soon, brother.”

In their recent match, Hibs managed a 1-1 draw against the Danish team in the first leg of their Europa League encounter last Thursday night.

The Edinburgh team is set to host FC Midtjylland at Easter Road for the second leg this week, aiming for a spot in the third qualifying round of the tournament.
