The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a blaze on Station Road, Lochgelly, at approximately 2:17 PM on Thursday.
Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the site of a significant fire in Fife.
The fire brigade was summoned to Lochgelly on Thursday afternoon, where they tackled what was described as a “well developed fire”.
Firefighters were deployed to Station Road at around 2.17pm.
A representative from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reported: “We received a call at 2.17pm on Thursday, 10 April, about a fire at a building on Station Road, Lochgelly.
“Our Operations Control sent four fire engines and an aerial appliance to tackle the intense blaze.
“Firefighting teams are currently active at the location.”
In a previous incident last month, firefighting units and emergency personnel were dispatched to a residential area in Fife following the deliberate burning of a car late at night.
The emergency teams were called to Brucefield Terrace in Lumphinnans, close to Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly, at 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 8, after locals reported hearing an explosion.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident.
Photos from the scene illustrated the severity of the fire, which occurred very near to residential buildings.
To extinguish the flames, firefighters used two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.
One local resident commented, “I’m relieved that we’re all safe. It was quite a shock. Absolute recklessness.
“My new car was parked right across the street.”
Another neighbor recalled hearing a loud explosion before seeing emergency services rush to the scene.
Subsequent images shared online showed the aftermath with a blue van visibly damaged and still smoking.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “Around 9:20 PM on Saturday, 8 March, 2025, we responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the Brucefield Terrace area of Lumphinnans.
“We arrived to support the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the fire was successfully extinguished.
“The incident is currently being investigated as a deliberate act, and inquiries are ongoing.
“We urge anyone with information to contact us via 101, citing reference 3782 of 8 March, 2025.”
