Jade Steven describes Jordon Forster as “unpredictable” and dominating.
Jordon Forster, once a celebrated Hibs footballer, has received a 20-year restraining order from contacting a former girlfriend following his conviction for a prolonged five-year period of domestic violence against her.
During their problematic relationship, Forster, 31, committed multiple violent acts against Jade Steven, which included choking her and hitting her head with a bottle.
The former 6ft2 defender was also known to destroy property during heated arguments, frequently degrade her, and exert control over her clothing and dietary choices.
Forster, who played at Easter Road from 2012 to 2017, was also found guilty of racially abusing and physically assaulting a child.
Despite denying all charges, Forster was convicted of five counts by a jury at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month. He faced sentencing recently where the judge noted the considerable impact of his actions on the victims.
Sheriff Christopher Dickson considered a prison sentence but opted instead for a community payback order citing Forster’s “limited record” and his “progress” on a previous community order.
Forster, from Gorebridge, Midlothian, is now required to wear an electronic monitoring tag and adhere to a home curfew from 8pm to 5am for six months. He is also mandated to perform up to 300 hours of unpaid work, undergo 12 months of supervision, and compensate Jade £1000 and an additional £250 to the assaulted child.
Furthermore, Forster is prohibited from contacting both victims and Jade’s mother, Elaine Steven, for the next two decades.
His defense attorney, Ms. McTaggart, stated that Forster has shown remorse for his actions, attributing them to his younger self.
Jade, now 35, testified that Forster moved into her apartment just weeks after they first met in a nightclub in 2015 while he was with Hibernian. She described their relationship as increasingly toxic, characterized by Forster’s aggressive and demeaning behavior.
She recounted incidents where Forster damaged her property and attacked her, including one episode where he struck her head with a bottle during an altercation.
She also testified about an occasion where Forster physically restrained her against a wall and strangled her. Jade described him as “nasty” and “controlling,” revealing she often used makeup to cover her bruises.
Living with Forster during the 2020 lockdown was “the worst time of my life,” she added.
The court also heard about Forster’s racial abuse and physical assault on a child, which involved pushing him and causing him to fall.
Forster, now working as a courier driver, denied the allegations, including the bottle attack, claiming it was an accidental contact with a plastic milk carton during a dispute.
However, the jury dismissed his claims and convicted him of multiple offenses, including physical assaults endangering Jade’s life, assaulting the child, and aggressive behavior towards Elaine Steven, all occurring between January 2016 and August 2021.
Additionally, Forster had been previously convicted in July 2023 for abusive behavior towards another ex-partner, Alicia Dyet, where he admitted to aggressive acts including unauthorized phone access and physical restraint.
He received a 10-year no-contact order against Ms. Dyet, was mandated to attend sessions with a domestic abuse program, and complete 200 hours of unpaid work along with two years of supervision.
Forster had a notable career with Hibernian, appearing 79 times and scoring six goals. He also had loan spells with several clubs before his recent sack from Tranent Juniors following his conviction.
