A Scottish vacation flight was rerouted to Manchester following a technical issue encountered mid-flight.
The TUI plane left Glasgow Airport at 3:45 pm, destined for Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt on Thursday, August 7. However, flight BY314 had to redirect and return towards Manchester Airport while it was over the North Sea.
The plane touched down safely in Manchester at 4:52 pm. It was reported that the diversion was caused by a malfunction in the aircraft’s weather radar system.
TUI, speaking to our affiliate Glasgow Live, stated that the rerouting was a standard safety procedure and the issue was resolved within two hours.
After the problem was fixed, the flight resumed from Manchester Airport at 6:13 pm and successfully landed in Egypt shortly after 1 am on Friday.
