Cher’s Bold Claim: Kristen Bell Deserves Better Than Dax Shepard!

By Emily Anderson

Cher spoke candidly about Kristen Bell’s marriage to Dax Shepard during an episode of Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert. Shepard, teasingly, asked Cher to name a "dream partner" for Bell, acknowledging that he believed Bell could do better, a sentiment he felt Cher might share.

While discussing the topic, Cher admitted she didn’t have a specific person in mind for Bell, whom she met during the filming of the 2010 movie Burlesque. She expressed trust in Bell’s choices by telling Shepard, "The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don’t see."

Shepard defended his merits to Cher by highlighting his support for Bell’s success, saying, “The thing you should like about me is that I’m not threatened by her shining. I love it. The shinier she gets, the better.” Cher responded positively, comparing Shepard’s attitude to that of her boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, stating that Edwards feels victorious when she shines brighter.

Bell, who also appeared on the podcast, praised men who actively support their partners’ success, describing them as “guys who polish you so you shine more.” By the conclusion of the podcast, Shepard humorously conceded to Cher that perhaps no one is truly good enough for Bell, to which Bell playfully countered that Shepard was “almost too good” for her.

Cher acknowledged Shepard’s qualities as a father to their daughters, Lincoln, aged 12, and Delta, aged 11. Bell echoed this sentiment, declaring Shepard to be “the best dad there ever was,” though Shepard joked about his parenting, claiming he only put on a good show because they had a guest.

In a lighter moment, Shepard joked, “That was the first hug I’d given my daughter in two years. Just because you were here. I wanted to impress you.”

Shepard and Bell have been married since 2013 and have openly shared the challenges they have encountered in their relationship. Bell discussed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021 how the COVID-19 pandemic initially put a strain on their relationship, leading them to bicker constantly.

To manage their issues, their therapist, Harry, advised them to attend separate therapy sessions. Bell shared, "Our therapist Harry suggested that since we were both so annoyed with each other, we go to therapy separately so that we could talk bad about each other." This approach allowed them to vent their frustrations independently, and according to Bell, it significantly improved their relationship. She explained that they would meet up in the evenings after their separate sessions and rediscover their love for each other.
