Channing Tatum is recovering after surgery to repair a separated shoulder.
The 45-year-old Roofman actor posted a photo on Instagram on Wednesday showing himself in the hospital moments before going into the operating room, describing the day as “just another day” and calling the surgery “another challenge.” He acknowledged the difficulty ahead, writing that this one would be tough but adding that he was ready to get it done.
After the operation, Tatum used his Instagram Story to share X-ray images taken before and after the procedure. The scans show where the shoulder joint had been separated and how surgeons secured it with a screw. Over the post-op images he wrote, “Screwed shoulder. Yay.”
Well-wishers and friends flooded the comments with supportive messages. His girlfriend, Australian model Inka Williams, left an encouraging note saying, “Big bad wolf [white heart emoji] we got disss.”
Tatum hasn’t revealed the circumstances that caused the shoulder injury. He’s long had a reputation for performing his own stunts in films, however, which has led to on-set injuries in the past.
In a September interview with Variety, the Magic Mike star discussed an injury he suffered while filming Avengers: Doomsday, which is slated for release in December 2026. He attended that conversation favoring a limp and said he’d had to rely more on his stunt double while undertaking intensive physical therapy to rehab an affected leg.
At the time he noted that there was still a lot of shooting left, including a major fight scene with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. He reflected on the broader impact of the injury, saying it wasn’t just the momentary pain but the realization that he couldn’t undo what had happened and that it would shape the next half-year of his life.
Tatum also spoke candidly about aging, admitting that he dislikes getting older and that, in his head, he still feels about 30 — or “26, if I’m honest.”
