Breaking News: Multiple Stabbings on Train: Two Suspects Arrested in Major Incident

Authorities from Cambridgeshire and the British Transport Police are managing a critical situation near Huntingdon.

A stabbing incident on a train in Cambridgeshire has resulted in multiple injuries.


The train was halted at Huntingdon station after several passengers were reportedly attacked with a knife on Saturday evening around 7:39 PM on a LNER service.


Two individuals were apprehended at the location, and several victims have been transported to the hospital for their injuries.


According to The Times, witnesses reported seeing a man wielding a large knife, with some passengers taking refuge in the train’s toilets to avoid the assailant.

One observer recounted a chaotic scene with “blood everywhere” and described how people were trampled as they tried to escape the violence.

“I heard some people shouting words of affection,” stated the witness.


Social media images show a heavy police presence at the scene, with officers seen running towards one of the train carriages.

British Transport Police have also arrived at the location. Huntingdon station has been closed by National Rail, with all lines currently blocked.

The operator of the East Coast Mainline, London North Eastern Railway (LNER), stated, “We are aware of an incident involving one of our trains.”


“Our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of our passengers and staff involved,” the company added.

“We are currently collecting all pertinent details and coordinating with the British Transport Police,” they continued.


Leader of the Labour Party Sir Keir Starmer expressed his concerns about the incident, describing it as “deeply troubling.”

In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister remarked, “The dreadful attack on a train near Huntingdon is extremely alarming.”

“My thoughts are with all those impacted, and I am grateful for the swift response of our emergency services,” he added.
