A human body was located between two highway exits while, concurrently, emergency units responded to a severe accident involving another highway section.
A highway was shutdown following the discovery of a human body. Police established roadblocks in response to two separate incidents occurring along different segments of the roadway.
The remains were found between two exits, around the same time emergency services were deployed to handle a major accident on a different section connecting to another highway.
The incident took place on the M5 Motorway in the West Midlands earlier today, as reported by The Mirror. The West Midlands Police have been managing two distinct scenes after discovering a body on the road.
Authorities have closed the section of the highway where the remains were located, specifically between Junction 3 at Quinton and Junction 2 at Oldbury. Additionally, a severe accident has led to the closure of the roadway from Junction 1 to the M6.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that the accident involved two motorcycles and a vehicle. The two male motorcyclists suffered severe injuries and were transported to hospitals for emergency care.
Traffic monitoring services like Inrix have reported extensive traffic and significant delays due to these incidents. Aerial footage from traffic cameras shows substantial queues forming on both sides of the carriageway.

West Midlands Police, via Twitter, announced their presence at two critical incidents on the M5, leading to a complete closure in both directions near Oldbury/Quinton. The road is closed from Junction 3 at Quinton to Junction 2 at Oldbury following the discovery of the body and a separate collision north towards the M6.
A police spokesperson described the events as serious and suggested that the road might remain closed for an extended period. Motorists are advised to alter their travel plans and seek alternative routes.
Regarding the accident, a spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service stated, “Two men have been hospitalized following an RTC involving two motorbikes and a car on the M5 this morning.” They confirmed that emergency units, including two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a trauma team, responded to the scene near West Bromwich. The motorcyclists received immediate medical treatment for serious injuries, with one being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the other to Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital for further care.
National Highways reported that it is managing a “secondary separate incident involving a serious collision”. They confirmed that emergency services are at the scene, with traffic management being assisted by National Highways contractors and Traffic Officers. Additionally, they noted that traffic trapped within the closure is being redirected and released from the rear of the queue.
