Former ‘Nashville’ Star Joins Spinoff Series
A former star from the beloved series ‘Nashville’ is making her way back to the iconic city for a new television project.
According to Variety, Kimberly Williams-Paisley has secured a role in the upcoming spinoff of 9-1-1, titled 9-1-1: Nashville.
Williams-Paisley will be joining the ensemble alongside country music legend LeAnn Rimes, who has also recently been announced to join the cast. Earlier, Chris O’Donnell and Jessica Capshaw were confirmed to play Captain Don Sharpe and his wife, respectively. The production is still in the process of casting other major roles, including Ryan Sharpe, the captain’s son and a pivotal character at Nashville’s most active firehouse.
Williams-Paisley is well-known for her role as Peggy Kenter on both ABC and CMT’s Nashville during 2012 and 2013. Her return to a Nashville-themed series is likely to evoke a sense of nostalgia among fans of the original musical series. Her extensive acting portfolio includes roles in Father of the Bride series, Safe House, Identity Theft, We Are Marshall, How to Eat Fried Worms, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, The Christmas Chronicles, as well as TV shows like According to Jim, Two and a Half Men, and The Flash.
Last autumn, ABC hinted at developing another 9-1-1 franchise spinoff, with potential settings in Las Vegas or Hawaii. However, the selection of Nashville as the backdrop came as a surprise to many, especially following the Texas setting of 9-1-1: Lone Star. While the premiere date for 9-1-1: Nashville is still under wraps, ABC is expected to announce their fall lineup soon, which should provide clues on when the show will debut.
Production Team and Further Details
The new series 9-1-1: Nashville is being developed by 9-1-1 creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, alongside 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani. They will also serve as executive producers with Chris O’Donnell, 9-1-1 co-creator Brad Falchuk, Brad Buecker, and series star and EP Angela Bassett.
Details about the character Kimberly Williams-Paisley will portray are still undisclosed, but more information is expected to be released shortly. Currently, Williams-Paisley is appearing as the host of the third season of Fox’s Farmer Wants a Wife, airing on Thursdays. It remains to be seen whether her role in 9-1-1: Nashville will conflict with her hosting duties, particularly as Farmer Wants a Wife has not yet been renewed for a fourth season.
