“Tiger King” Celebrity Joe Exotic Marries Again
The notable figure from the Netflix series “Tiger King,” Joe Exotic, has announced his new marital status. At the age of 62, while serving time in prison, Joe Exotic revealed that he has married Jorge Marquez, a fellow inmate.
Joe Exotic, whose legal name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, shared the news on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter). He expressed his pride and introduced Jorge Flores Maldonado as his husband. The post was accompanied by a digitally altered image showing the couple dressed in matching tuxedos, standing before a decoratively floral backdrop.
Currently, Joe Exotic is serving a 21-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. His incarceration follows a 2020 conviction related to a murder-for-hire plot targeting his adversary, Carole Baskin.
In a social media post from October 2024, Exotic had previously announced his engagement to Marquez. He praised Marquez, a 33-year-old originally from Mexico, describing him as remarkable and expressing regret that they hadn’t met sooner. He also outlined their future plans, which included either seeking asylum for Marquez or potentially leaving the United States upon their release.
Later that month, Joe Exotic disclosed to Entertainment Weekly that their wedding plans were pending approval from the prison authorities, including the warden, psychiatric staff, and the chaplain. He noted that they had recently applied for a marriage license and hoped to marry by December 12, a date chosen by Marquez. Exotic shared that they spent every possible moment together and deeply loved each other.
This marriage marks Joe Exotic’s third. He was previously married to Travis Maldonado, who tragically died in October 2017 from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot. Shortly after Maldonado’s death, Exotic married Dillon Passage. However, this relationship also ended, and they decided to separate in 2020. In March 2021, Passage confirmed that they were pursuing a divorce, acknowledging the difficulty of the decision but recognizing that it was the best course of action for both of them.
