‘The Sopranos’ Icon Packs Up: Star Decides to Leave the US for New Beginnings

Joe Pantoliano, famed for his role in The Sopranos, has expressed his intention to move out of the United States due to a deep sense of discomfort.

During the premiere of Tuccis in Italy in New York City on April 28, Pantoliano cited the political climate in the US as his primary reason for planning to relocate.

“The current state of affairs in our nation makes me extremely uneasy,” he told Page Six. “I feel like escaping to the mountains is my only option.”

Pantoliano shared his difficulty in focusing on everyday activities, such as his work in television, given the global crises. “With the world in such turmoil, it’s tough to focus on the trivialities of making a TV show,” he commented.

He revealed that he and his wife, actress Nancy Sheppard, had recently visited Portugal and are contemplating a permanent move there.

“We have just returned from there,” he remarked. “We’ve fallen in love with the place.”

Pantoliano also discussed a significant power outage in Portugal that lasted 18 hours, suspecting it was the result of a cyber attack.

“I believe this could be a precursor to what might happen here [in the US],” he suggested.

Discussing preparations for potential emergencies, Pantoliano mentioned he keeps a substantial amount of cash on hand at home, though he joked it wasn’t enough to last more than a few weeks.

“It’s hidden away, and there’s no map to find it!” he quipped.
