Shocking TV Blunder: CNN Guest Faceplants During Live Backflip Attempt!

By Emily Anderson

An unfortunate misstep occurred for one member of the Savannah Bananas during a critical moment.

While preparing to showcase his skills on a CNN segment about the Bananas, Robert Anthony Cruz, a player from the touring Savannah Bananas baseball team, attempted a live backflip but ended up crashing face-first onto the floor.

The Savannah Bananas are known for playing “Banana Ball,” a version of baseball filled with dances, comedy sketches, and overall entertainment during the game. The team features a mix of former college and professional baseball players, and occasionally current MLB stars join them as special guests.

Cruz took the incident in stride, sharing multiple videos of the mishap and encouraging his audience to find humor in it. He commented that “the sound makes it 10x funnier,” giving everyone permission to laugh along.

In another video, he elaborated on the incident, explaining, “For those unfamiliar, I regularly perform flips, even while catching balls. A few months ago, I even caught a football during a backflip on ‘NFL Live’ at the ESPN headquarters. I’ve completed countless backflips over my lifetime and had no reason to doubt I could do this one.”

Regrettably, the intense studio lighting caused him to lose his bearings mid-air, leading to an under-rotated flip and a hard landing.

“Before I knew it, I was on the ground, feeling quite dazed,” he shared, adding that he had blood running down his face at the time. Despite the dramatic fall, Cruz only required a few stitches to his lip and chin and suffered no severe injuries.
