Fiery Explosion: M90 Shutdown as Flames Engulf Pickup Truck!

By Benjamin Harrison

Dramatic visuals capture towering orange flames engulfing a white truck as dense smoke fills the sky.

The M90, a major Scottish highway, was completely shut down in both directions following a severe fire involving a pickup truck.

The incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon when the truck suddenly burst into flames on the M90 near Kinross, causing traffic to come to a standstill.

Brave firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency, and both sides of the heavily trafficked road were blocked to traffic as they fought to control the flames.

Dramatic photographs from the event show massive flames shooting out from the remains of the truck while copious amounts of smoke poured into the atmosphere.

As of approximately 1:45 pm on June 19, the fire had been successfully extinguished, and the highway was reopened to vehicular traffic. It remains unclear if there were any injuries resulting from the incident.

According to a representative from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, they received multiple calls around 12:45 pm about the truck fire on the M90 near Kinross. Two fire engines were deployed to the site, and the road was temporarily closed. The firefighting teams have since left the location, and the roadway has been fully reopened.

This incident on the M90 is not isolated, as another vehicle fire occurred on the M8 in Lanarkshire, leading to partial road closures. The fire started shortly before 12:30 pm on Sunday, June 15. The westbound off-slip for junction six at Newhouse was closed to allow the fire service to manage the situation. Additionally, one lane of the motorway was restricted.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene of the M8 fire, though it is currently unknown if there were any injuries.

Kimberley Collins, an eyewitness, described the scene: “Traveling from Glasgow to Edinburgh, we noticed smoke but couldn’t tell where it was coming from initially. As we approached, the smoke thickened, and traffic slowed. Soon after, police cars set up a rolling roadblock on the westbound side where the car was on fire. We also saw a fire engine and a road recovery truck heading towards the incident. It’s not something you see every day! Hopefully, everyone is safe, and a big thank you to the emergency services for their prompt action.”
