The footage revealed a tense exchange between the acclaimed actor and some photographers while attending the global debut of Highest 2 Lowest, a new film directed by Spike Lee. Washington is featured in the film alongside director Lee and fellow actor A$AP Rocky.
While making their way on the red carpet, a remark from one of the photographers seemed to target Washington, prompting him to confront the individual directly. The video shows Washington pointing his finger assertively at the photographer’s face during the heated exchange.
The situation escalated when the photographer attempted to laugh it off and reached out to touch Washington’s arm, leading the actor to vocally demand the group to “stop it, stop it.”
Despite the confrontation, the premiere of the film proceeded to great acclaim, with Washington, Lee, and A$AP Rocky all receiving standing ovations from the audience. This film marks a significant reunion for Washington and Lee, who last worked together over two decades ago. Their previous collaborations include notable films such as Mo’ Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998), and Inside Man (2006).
