Bank of America is set to close multiple branches as part of a strategic plan. Among these are four key Massachusetts locations. This move is part of a larger initiative encompassing numerous states.
The High Street branch in Boston will be the first to close its doors on February 27. On the same day, the Braintree branch on Granite Street will also cease operations.
Further Massachusetts Closures
Later on March 5, the North Reading, Park Street branch will shut down. The fourth and final Massachusetts closure will be the South Dennis branch on Route 134, scheduled for March 12.
Closures Across the Country
This Massachusetts-based initiative is part of a broader plan. Bank of America is set to close at least 55 branches in 2024, including several others across the country. California and Maryland can expect closures later this month.
Following these, additional closures are slated for New Jersey, Missouri, California again, Georgia, and New York in March. As the month progresses, an additional 13 branches are scheduled for closure across seven different states.
A Year of Nationwide Closures
Bank of America has planned closures throughout the year, extending up until early November. Identified branches include locations in Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Maryland, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, and Florida.
Past Closures
These closures are not a new phenomenon. The banking giant closed 108 locations by the end of 2023.
Customer Compensation
Despite the closures, there is some positive news for customers based in Florida. If Bank of America violated the Consumer Collection Practice Act by contacting them between 9pm and 8am since April 22, 2020, these customers could be eligible for compensation of up to .
