Actor hospitalized: suffers head injury in on-set stunt mishap

Punjabi actor Jayy Randhawa is on the mend after sustaining injuries while performing a stunt for his forthcoming film Ishqnama 56.

According to a report in The Free Press Journal, the accident happened during a sequence in which Randhawa was to leap from one rooftop to another. A mechanical fault developed in the crane that was being used to support the jump, causing him to collide with a wall and strike his head.

Footage of the mishap circulated on social media, showing crew members sprinting to his aid before he was transported to a hospital for treatment and a series of medical checks.

A video of the incident was also shared on Twitter, where users posted clips and images documenting the scene and the actor’s subsequent hospitalization.

On Wednesday, Randhawa posted an update on Instagram reassuring fans about his condition. In a message translated into English, he said he was keeping a positive outlook and thanked everyone for their prayers, adding that he felt protected by a higher power.

He went on to promise that once he has recovered he intends to return to work, describing his comeback as one that will be stronger and more energetic.

Born Bikramjit Singh Randhawa, Jayy first entered the public eye as a television host on 9X Tashan’s show Tashan Da Peg.

Randhawa later built a reputation as both a singer and an actor, gaining wide attention for the 2022 film Shooter, which was inspired by the life of gangster Sukha Kahlon. The movie faced an initial ban amid concerns it might glorify violence, but after a two-year delay it was released and went on to perform well at the Indian box office.
