Alyssa Farah Griffin had a perfectly good reason for missing Tuesday’s broadcast of The View: she went into labor.
At the top of the show, moderator Whoopi Goldberg informed viewers that the former White House communications director wouldn’t be at the Hot Topics table because she was at the hospital awaiting the arrival of her and husband Justin Griffin’s first child. Co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin joined Goldberg on the panel.
“She’s at the hospital right now,” Goldberg told the studio, as the audience began to applaud. Goldberg urged the crowd to give a warm sendoff, adding that everyone was wishing Alyssa well as she waited for her baby boy to be born.
The panel also laughed about Alyssa’s prediction from the day before: she’d joked that the excitement of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance might trigger her early labor. Goldberg — who has a long film career that includes Ghost — noted that Alyssa’s forecast turned out to be accurate.
“I don’t know if you caught the show yesterday, but Alyssa was right — Bad Bunny’s halftime set sent her into labor,” Goldberg said, highlighting the moment with a smile. The hosts then teased that, in honor of the Grammy-winning artist (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio), Alyssa might consider naming her son Bunny or Benito.
Alyssa revealed she was expecting her first child — a boy — back in October 2025. She made the announcement live on The View and opened up about her path to parenthood, saying she underwent five rounds of in vitro fertilization before conceiving.
On the day she announced the pregnancy, Alyssa referenced an earlier moment on the show when Goldberg had playfully asked whether she was expecting, prompting Alyssa to invite the question again. When the reveal came, Goldberg’s surprise was obvious as the whole panel erupted in celebration. “I’m so glad I don’t have to hide it anymore,” Alyssa quipped at the time, visibly relieved.
She also shared the news on social media with a short video using the Wicked: For Good audio, miming Ariana Grande’s Glinda as she announced, turned to display her baby bump and kissed her husband. In the post’s caption, Alyssa noted that they were expecting a baby boy in February.
