Amy Gray and her dog Reggie were tragically killed on October 29 during a morning jog in Port Glasgow.
The companion of a mother who perished along with her dog in a tragic accident in Port Glasgow has expressed his deep love and admiration for his life partner.
Amy Gray, aged 42, was navigating the eastbound lane of the A8 on Greenock Road with her dog Reggie early in the morning on Wednesday, October 29, when a Land Rover Sport collided with them at about 7:05 am.
Despite immediate responses from emergency services, both Amy and Reggie succumbed to their injuries at the site of the accident. The vehicle’s driver was unharmed.
David, who had shared eight wonderful years with Amy, remembered her as an incredible mother to their five children.
Speaking to the Greenock Telegraph, he pledged, “I will do everything within my power to raise our little ones as well as you would have.”
“She was my everything. We had dreams of relocating overseas once the children were older,” he added.
Amy was pursuing a nursing degree and was looking forward to starting a new career. “It devastates me to think that the children will have to grow up without their mother,” David expressed.
It is believed that Amy was out for her usual morning run with Reggie when the incident occurred. The police later visited their home while David was preparing the children for school.
Emma, Amy’s sister, spearheaded a wave of tributes for the well-loved mother on various social media platforms.
She updated her Facebook profile picture to an image of the two sisters enjoying a drink together.
Condolences and remembrances flooded in from friends and family on social media.
Stephanie Minton wrote, “Absolutely gutted to hear this, RIP Amy. Thinking of her kids and the rest of her family and friends.”
Alana Robertson shared, “Absolutely heartbroken, I can’t get her poor kids and family out of my mind. You were such a beautiful person inside and out xx.”
Francesca McBryde commented, “Devastated. What a woman, a fantastic mother and a loving partner taken far too soon. I will miss our conversations and neighborly walks, Amy. Thoughts and prayers are with David, the kids, Emma and Daniel, and all the family at this very very sad time xxx.”
Jen Marshall added, “Heartbreaking. Amy had the brightest smile. Thoughts and prayers to your babies and family.”
A fundraising initiative launched by her brother-in-law Daniel Hagen has amassed over £42,000 just a day after the tragedy. He expressed immense gratitude to the generous donors and supporters, “We are all so grateful and can’t really believe how much money has been raised in such a short period of time. It proves just how much Amy was loved and how many lives she touched during her life.”
“What an amazing community we live in with amazing people. We’ll never be able to thank everyone enough for their efforts, donations, and kind words, so all we can say is thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
