Arena provision passes Senate
Bonding for the proposed Becker-Big Lake Regional Ice Center, which was contained in legislation sponsored by Sen. Lisa Fobbe, passed the Senate as part of a larger job-creation.
The package, worth more than $360 million, kick-starts progress on many shovel-ready projects around the state.
"If there are building and infrastructure projects that are ready to go, then we ought to get them going not too long after the frost goes out - there are plenty of construction and building trades men and women in my district who need the work, " said Sen. Fobbe. "I'm thrilled that the ice center was included. It is a great project and the people of Big Lake and Becker have worked together to make this happen."
The bill is awaiting action from the House on their version of the bonding bill, and a conference committee will iron out differences before it is considered again and is sent to the Governor.
